Nutritious Cravings

Hi there I’m Shelly!

Thanks so much for checking out my blog!

I hope you will find what you are looking for here!

As you will see I  love food !  I also love to try and create recipes that use healthier and better for you ingredients. I feel like with all the preservatives in foods now days we really should watch what we put in our bodies!  Also something that helps to make sure you are putting better food into your  bodies is to get things that are locally grown and you know that it is good or else buy stuff that has the label USDA organic on it. Some foods our family has switched out to better things is…..
Flour- To a Non bleached flour.
Sugar- We either use Organic cane sugar or else we use honey or maple syrup for a replacement.
Fruits- To local fruits or else USDA organic at the store
Salt- Pink Himalayan salt
Cacoa powder- USDA organic kind ( we like Navitas Organics brand)
Yogurt- Greek yogurt with no added sugar ( we like to get the ones that say organic on it)
Vegetables- Locally grown or else USDA organic at the store
Oats- We try to get the organic ones at the store (preferably USDA organic)
Meats- We get from people we know or else organic at the store
Bread- We hardly even buy bread anymore because we make sourdough
Tortillas- Homemade Sourdough ones
Eggs- Local ones we hardly ever buy from the store and if we do we try to get the more organic kind
Milk- We either get whole milk that is more local or else get USDA organic kind in the store
Rice- Some type of organic rice

So yeah that was a few things our family has switched over but we are still learning as well it definitely is a learning process.
The main thing is to try and get things that are organic and make most things at home so you know what all is in it.

Another thing about me is I love to play around with photography especially with food photography.  Its just so rewarding to take a picture and then look at it and see how it made that thing come to life! It’s definitely a learning curve but slowly getting there.
I also LOVE to travel and see new places! God’s creation truly is beautiful and magical! I might post some things about my travels HERE. So if you want to see my travels feel free to check it out!

Me and food definitely have had a ruff patch as well though. For four years of my life I have dealt with Anorexia but I am trying to get on top of it.  I’m trying to retrain my brain to think on the nutritious value of food and not the calorie end of it.  I have wasted so much of my life worrying about  food and I want to have a good relationship with it because God put food on this earth to enjoy and so I want to be able to fully enjoy it! If you want to read the full story of my Anorexia journey Click Here.

I also really like horses and have one of my own. Sometimes owning a horse is a little challenging but for the most part I love having a horse and being able to ride! There is just something so magical about horses they are so beautiful and powerful that it is hard not to love them! God definitely made a beautiful animal when He made horses!
